June Book of the Month

They built me for freedom, by Tonya Duncan Ellis Follows a pivotal moment in African American history, Juneteenth and how people celebrate it. After the people of Texas were freed in 1865 they memorialized this day with a park in Houston. This liberating book takes place in that park as it is a place where many African American people come together to celebrate their history.
