"Malcolm Little: The Boy Who Grew Up to Become Malcolm X" by Ilyasah Shabazz is a children's biography that tells the early life story of Malcolm X, focusing on his childhood and the challenges he faced. Written by his daughter, the book provides a glimpse into his experiences growing up, including his struggles with racism, his family’s hardships, and his journey toward discovering his own identity.

To kick off the new year we have "Our Diversity Makes Us Stronger" by Shelley Rotner and Sheila M. Kelly Through vibrant photographs and simple, accessible text, the book illustrates how people from different backgrounds, cultures, and traditions come together to create a stronger and more vibrant community. It emphasizes the value of inclusivity and highlights the positive impact of embracing differences in building unity and understanding. The book encourages young readers to appreciate diversity and recognize its importance in fostering strength and connection.

Meet our Director, a Sophomore at Hayfield Secondary School who has a deep passion for inclusivity and social justice. Inspired by her older sister Ava's work, Ella plans to bring new ideas to Represented Reading. She is excited to share her perspectives and get hands-on experience visiting elementary schools and reading to classrooms.
